Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and how to ask us to delete it. In plain language.
Version 1.0 Last updated July 18, 2026

Hope Digital Missions is the public-facing ministry name of Hopeful Disasters, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Tax ID 93-2265407). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use this website. We have tried to write it the way we would explain it to a friend, because a policy nobody can read protects nobody.

The short version: we only collect what you personally hand us, we use it to reply to you or to send you what you asked for, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Information you give us

Every piece of personal information on this site comes from a form you chose to fill out. There are three of them.

  • Newsletter signup — your email address, and your first and last name if you choose to enter them. Both name fields are optional.
  • Contact form — your name, your email address, the topic you selected, and whatever you write in your message.
  • Find a Church request — your name, email address, phone number if you provide one, the general area you live in, how you prefer to be contacted, your confirmation that you are 18 or older, and anything you tell us about what you are looking for.

We do not require you to create an account, and there is no login on this website.

Information collected automatically

This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views, so we can see which pages people find useful. It is cookieless: it stores nothing on your device, it does not follow you to other websites, and it does not build a profile of you or identify you personally. It records only anonymous, aggregated information — such as which page was viewed, the general country it was viewed from, and the type of device.

We run no advertising or ad-tracking scripts of any kind, and we do not sell or share this information with anyone.

Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard server logs when a page is requested — the kind of record every web server keeps, including IP address, browser type, and which page was requested. We use these only to keep the site running and secure.

Giving and payment information

Donations are processed by Subsplash Giving through a secure form embedded on our Give page. Your card or bank details go directly to Subsplash. They never pass through this website and we never see or store them. Subsplash handles that information under its own privacy policy and security standards.

We do receive the donation records Subsplash provides us — such as your name, contact information, and gift amount — so that we can thank you, issue receipts, and keep the financial records a nonprofit is required to keep.

How we use your information

  • To reply to you when you contact us.
  • To help connect you with a local church when you ask us to, which means sharing the details below with that church.
  • To send you our newsletter, if you signed up for it.
  • To acknowledge and receipt your donations, and to keep required financial records.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not send you fundraising appeals simply because you filled out an unrelated form.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Ever. We share it in only three situations.

  • Service providers who operate parts of this ministry: Mailchimp (newsletter delivery), Resend (delivering form submissions to our inboxes), Subsplash (donation processing), and Vercel (website hosting). Each may only use your information to provide that service to us.
  • A local church, when you have asked us to help you find one. This is the entire purpose of that form, and we tell you so on the form itself. We share only what helps that church welcome you well, and we do not hand your information to churches you did not ask to be connected with.
  • When the law requires it, or when we believe in good faith that sharing is necessary to protect someone from harm.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send. You do not need to ask us.
  • Ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us at the address below. We will do it.
  • Change your mind about a church connection. Tell us and we will stop the introduction, though we cannot undo an introduction already made.

How long we keep it

We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe. We keep form messages as long as we need them to follow up well and to remember our conversation with you. Donation records are kept as long as tax and nonprofit recordkeeping rules require.

Children

This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and our Find a Church form asks you to confirm that you are 18 or older before we will make an introduction. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Our online ministry communities on other platforms, such as Discord, are governed by those platforms’ own age requirements and policies in addition to ours.

Other websites and platforms

This site links out to places like our Discord community, streaming platforms, and our giving provider. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else’s website, under their privacy policy, not ours. We would encourage you to read them.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you give us, including sending everything over an encrypted connection and keeping our inbox addresses out of the public code of this website to reduce spam and scraping. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the version and date shown at the top of this page. Meaningful changes will be described here rather than quietly slipped in.

Contact us

Questions about your privacy, or a request to see or delete your information, can be sent through the contact form on this website, and a real person will answer.
