A major value that we have at Hope Digital Missions is the importance of being in the Word of God. To this end, we hold Bible Marathons a few times a year in our online discipleship server where we read from Genesis to Revelation straight without stopping: around 80 hours of reading. During one such marathon, a young woman found the online stream on Twitch. She had walked away from her faith, yet when she saw us reading the Bible she thought to herself, “I can passively listen to the Bible.”
Yet, as we know, God’s word cuts bone and marrow. As she listened to scripture being read, God softened her heart and made himself known to her. After the Bible reading, during our worship and response time, she rededicated her life to Christ.
From there she entered our online discipleship community and engaged in Bible Studies and prayer times. She lived in a far global location, but we helped her find a local church, and we started seeing her less. Finally she popped back online to tell us that she was getting baptized and let us celebrate with her! It was such a joy! Since then, we have not seen her much. This story is an example of God’s tremendous love and what impact that His Word can and does have in the lives of those online.
