We have always said that online community is a bridge, not a destination. Every so often, someone crosses it. This farewell message was posted by a member of the Hopeful Disasters server on his last day in it — shared here exactly as he wrote it.
Good day friends, over the past few years this group has been an immense blessing, helping me grow in my faith and lean not on my own strength, I now have a friend that I meet with in person who I am walking this out with, and I am going to be deleting discord as well as my account, in general I am reducing how much I am on social media, and this is part of that. I will always appreciate your prayers and how you have all been there for me, I love you guys more than you know. You have been true brothers to me. I trust that if we don’t meet in this lifetime, we will surely be reunited when we are in heaven in the joyous celebration that will never end in Jesus Christ’s name, Amen
He left because he found what we sent him to find. That is the goal — the goal was never to keep them.
